Güttler has greatly expanded the trumpet´s range of
expression, particularly in the realm of chamber music. He
was the first to draw from the modern trumpet the soft,
muted piano demanded by chamber music. After foundina
the Leipziger Bach Collegium (under his direction since
1976) he proved that the trumpet belongs in the chamber
orchestra, blending in well with the strings and woodwinds. |
